· Enhancing patient interaction for better outcomes.
· Improving clinical results through refined techniques.
· Personal development strategies to grow as an osteopath.
During this two-day event, Prof. Molinari will delve into the intelligent organisation of the body and demonstrate practical approaches to managing pressure compartments. A special focus will be placed on preparing an effective approach to thepelvic compartment, which is crucial for addressing conditions such as endometriosis and pelvic congestionin women.
Mrs Anja Engel-Schulmeyer:
Osteopathic Approach to Endometriosis
Endometriosis affects approximately 10% (190 million) of women and girls of reproductive age globally, and the prevalence is increasing. In osteopathic practice, we encounter patients daily whose lives are significantly affected by chronic pelvic pain during menstruation, sexual intercourse, bowel movements, and/or urination. These symptoms often lead to infertility, depression, or anxiety. Unfortunately, the average time to diagnose endometriosis is around seven years.
Currently, there is no known allopathic cure for endometriosis, and treatment is typically aimed at managing symptoms. This course explores endometriosis through the lens of the five osteopathic models. Understanding the pathophysiology and the impact endometriosis has on women is essential. The course draws on knowledge from both allopathic and osteopathic scientific research, as well as hands-on osteopathic practice and experience.
Since pain, inflammation, adhesions, and reduced visceral mobility are often key characteristics of endometriosis, the course emphasizes osteopathic approaches within the fluid and biomechanical models. The focus is on functional osteopathic thinking and manual skills, with some consideration given to how nutritional improvements and hormonal balance can provide additional support.
The primary objective of the course is to deepen understanding of the pathophysiology, its effects on the body, and treatment approaches aimed at reducing pain and improving the quality of life for patients. Symptoms such as deep dyspareunia, dyschezia, secondary dysmenorrhea, and particularly dysuria will be discussed in detail. Given the association between endometriosis and bladder-related pathologies, the course also covers conditions such as stress incontinence, overactive bladder, and voiding dysfunctions, along with relevant osteopathic approaches to support these patients.
The third part of the course introduces how osteopathy can support patients before and during IVF treatment. It provides insights on when treatment should be applied and highlights key factors to consider during this process.
Half of the course is dedicated to enhancing and refining practical skills, focusing on the whole body. In the gynecological field, both external and internal approaches (voluntary) are taught and applied.
___________
How to get there:
The island of Ios: there are daily direct flights to Santorini with Easyjet and British Airways and other low cost airlines.
It is then a 30 minutes crossing in a speed ferry to Ios.
Santorini is the closest island you can go by plane, but you can also choose to fly to Mykonos or even Athens (the port of Rafina is the closest to the airport) and from there take a ferry. We suggest you travel 1 or 2 days before the start of the course to allow you time to connect your flight and your ferry.
Several ferries companies sail to Ios: please visit the websites below for itineraries and timetables:
